US PRISON HEALTH SYSTEM

• Depending on the type of prison you are in and your age and gender you will receive different care

• Depends on the number of inmates. If there are larger prisons generally health care is better because they are able to have a doctor on call and sometimes even nurses.

  • The USA has the largest amount of inmates by far

• There are actual facilities that are dedicated for inmates with severe conditions

• incoming inmates- get blood work, disease, drugs

• Women can see a gynecologist and, 60 plus get early electrogram

• Chronic illness, mental illness, drug abuse,

• Not only struggling with illness brought in but also inherited in prison due to poor conditions and maybe abuse or injury within the facility

• In the US, it is interesting that some would rather go to prison because they know they can get better healthcare there than in the outside world
